Press Release
Amsterdam, 15 September 2026
Today, ABN AMRO Clearing Bank, together with Ohpen and with Bloei vermogen as its first user, is launching a new, innovative platform for the administration, order execution and custody of client cash and securities. The platform enables independent wealth managers to offer their services to private clients with greater flexibility and certainty.
New platform combines scalability and efficiency with room for personal service
In its drive to offer clients a smooth and transparent service, Bloei vermogen, as an independent wealth manager, was looking for flexibility and certainty: flexibility to work with a broker of its choice, and certainty for clients that they have their own cash account. At the same time, Bloei vermogen wants to stay focused on its client relationships and on managing its clients’ assets.
With more than €1.5 billion in assets under management and over 3,000 clients, Bloei vermogen has chosen Ohpen and AACB, two leading and proven players in the financial sector. The new set-up is scalable, makes processes simpler and more efficient, and creates room for further growth and development of its services. In doing so, Bloei vermogen is laying a foundation that matches the organisation’s growth ambitions.
Bloei vermogen remains responsible for asset management and the full client relationship. Ohpen provides the IT platform and runs the investment administration and order processing. AACB provides the banking infrastructure and the custody of the investments. Client money is held on a segregated basis at AACB through a so-called ‘Rekening Afgescheiden Vermogen’ (Segregated Assets Account), fully in line with applicable laws and regulations.
The combination of these three specialised parties is new to the Dutch wealth management market. By clearly separating responsibilities, duplicate processes and administration are avoided, and Bloei vermogen remains the client’s central point of contact. At the same time, the result is a platform that supports further digitalisation and growth.
This is much more than a switch to a different custodian bank. We are deliberately choosing a structure in which each party focuses on its own area of expertise. That makes our service more efficient and gives us more room to focus on our clients.
– Patrick Bontje, CEO of Bloei vermogen
Client money held separately
A key element of the new structure is the Rekening Afgescheiden Vermogen at AACB. This relatively new type of account offers an alternative to the ‘omnibus’ structure commonly used in wealth management, in which client money is pooled and held collectively.
The Rekening Afgescheiden Vermogen offers wealth managers a modern and transparent way to hold client money separately. The partnership with Bloei vermogen and Ohpen shows how this banking infrastructure can be combined with specialised technology and independent wealth management. The result is an innovative structure within the Dutch market.
– Jan Bart de Boer, Chief Commercial Officer of ABN AMRO Clearing Bank
Technology that creates room
Ohpen provides the IT platform and handles the investment administration and order processing. This gives Bloei vermogen the freedom to operate independently of a broker without having to set up its own operations organisation. With its skilled and experienced operational specialists, the Ohpen BPO team has full control over all investment processes. Using the Ohpen platform, the team can serve multiple clients flexibly and efficiently.
Financial institutions want to be able to innovate and grow without the complexity of their administration increasing at the same rate. That is exactly what our platform was built for. It gives Bloei vermogen a flexible and scalable foundation on which to further develop its services, while we take away a significant part of the complexity behind the scenes.
– Matthijs Aler, CEO of Ohpen
The new platform will go live in November 2026. The partnership brings together Bloei vermogen’s personal approach to wealth management, Ohpen’s technology and investment operations, and ABN AMRO Clearing Bank’s banking and custody infrastructure, creating a scalable foundation for further growth and innovation.
